Responding to people in distress has long been an honorable, charitable tradition. Massachusetts Rescue and Recovery K9 Unit (MARK9) is a charitable, non-profit volunteer search and rescue (SAR) organization (501(c)(3) status pending) that is dedicated to the training of search dogs, handlers and support personnel in order to provide professional and highly-skilled canine teams in the event of an emergency response event. Upon request of law enforcement agencies and fire/rescue departments, MARK9 can provide trained search dog teams to assist in locating lost and missing people anywhere within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. MARK9 also will respond upon request to any location within the Greater New England area in situations where mutual aid is needed. MARK9 does not self-deploy but may call appropriate agencies within the Commonwealth to offer our services. All of the dogs are owned by their handlers and all costs incurred during training and responding on missions is the sole responsibility of the handler. To learn more, please call 617/775.7968.
