Check out www.petrockfest.com for updates The 9th Annual Pet Rock Festival Returns to WorcesterWorcester, Mass. – On Sunday, Sept. 9, 2007 [rain date, Sept. 16] from noon to 5 p.m., The Animal Shelter Inc. of Sterling, Worcester Magazine, WXLO, EJ Candies and Hill’s Science Diet present Pet Rock at Quinsigamond Community College, 670 West Boylston St., Worcester. It’s back and rocking more than ever. So far, we’ve got the sturdy Pet Rock (the band) and R&B powerhouse The Valves aboard. We will be solidifying more bands, including a headliner, soon. But we wanted to get the word out.
Pet Rock is the largest expo of its kind on the East Coast. A daylong family-oriented festival, Pet Rock’s primary purpose is to promote responsible pet ownership, bring attention to animal cruelty and educate people on a variety of animal related issues. Proceeds benefit New England based animal welfare organizations. We’ve given thousands to worthy charities throughout the years. But it’s fun, too. Pet Rock boasts live music, vendors, vegetarian food, carnival games, prizes, raffles, guest speakers, rides and more than 200 breed rescues, shelters and animal welfare organizations. Past headliners have included Sophie B Hawkins, Deep Blue Something, Badfinger, Orleans, Babaloo and American Idol winners. But your pet is the star of the day (remember, your dog is more than welcome, but other pets don’t fare well at such an event). There are contests, “Frosty Paws,” low-cost microchipping sponsored by VCA hospitals, doggie massages, a dog contest (with categories such as “owner-dog look alike” and “best vocalist”),ID tags, Frisbee dog demos, adoptable pet parade with prizes, professional photos with your pet, cat photo contest and the new doggie water park. Check out www.petrockfest.com for continuous updates. The purpose: to promote kindness to animals, raise money, as well as awareness of the problems regarding animal welfare and let people know what they can do to help our furry friends.
Remember, they can’t talk, so we will. A benefit for the animals PET ROCK FESTival Sunday Sept. 9, 2007 Noon - 5 p.m. Quinsigamond Community College, Worcester
